On behalf of (GSLD) at Teachers College, we invite Teachers College graduate students, admitted for the Summer 2026 term, to join us for our College-wide Summer 2026 New Student Orientation (NSO) Program hosted on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The Summer Welcome is open to enrolled and deposited Teachers College graduate students admitted for the Summer 2026 term. Registration will launch in May 2026 and information will be sent to your TC email address.
Summer start students will also be available to join our College-wide Fall 2026 New Student Orientation (NSO). Fall NSO 2026 is scheduled for August 25 - August 27. Fall NSO provides incoming students with the opportunity to attend sessions, including the College Welcome, Scavenger Hunt, Academic Luncheons, and many more!
Attendance from Tuesday, August 25, through Thursday, August 27, will vary by academic department:
- Tuesday, August 25, 2026: Arts & Humanities (A&H), Human Development (HUD), and Mathematics, Science & Technology (MST)
- Wednesday, August 26, 2026: Counseling & Clinical Psychology (CCP), Curriculum & Teaching (C&T), and Health Studies & Applied Educational Psychology (HAEP)
- Thursday, August 27, 2026: Biobehavioral Sciences (BBS), Education Policy & Social Analysis (EPSA), International & Transcultural Studies (ITS), and Organization & Leadership (O&L)
Registration for New Student Orientation will launch on July 21, 2026 – keep an eye out for the registration link sent to your TC email.
Additionally, you will be invited to attend a required 30-minute Columbia University Health Sexual Violence Response training either on Friday, August 28, or Monday, August 31, depending on your academic department. More information will be sent at the time of registration on July 21. If you are unable to attend this required session, a virtual make-up session will be offered on Tuesday, September 1.
Unable to attend in-person due to a time conflict or being in an online program? We will have recordings of the College Welcome session for you to watch after Orientation. Outside of the College Welcome, you may be invited to a welcome session from your Academic Program. Please continue to monitor your email for more information.
Enjoy informative sessions designed to introduce newly admitted students to graduate school and the College community. Learn essential information about the TC student experience and enjoy social activities with fellow new TC students. While not all NSO sessions are mandatory, your attendance is strongly encouraged to ensure a successful start to your TC journey.
International students will have a mandatory orientation through the as well.

Please join our Summer 2026 New International Student Q&A session led by the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS)! Learn how to maintain your F-1 or J-1 visa status, meet the team who helps you navigate SEVIS & your status, and ask questions about enrollment, work authorization, & more.
Outside of the College-wide welcome, you may be invited to a welcome session from your Academic Program so please continue to monitor your email for more information.
You will be invited to join our TC Foundations course at the time of your enrollment. This course is an asynchronous online onboarding course dedicated to adjusting to graduate school. You’ll get to learn more about TC history, our NYC neighborhood, how to get involved, and review the Student Code of Conduct through this course.
